Over the last thirty years, the entrepreneurial spirit has transformed the business world. Entrepreneurs have been the driving force of that transformation, creating new ventures, technologies, jobs, and wealth. Today, more than ever, pursuing an entrepreneurial venture offers the greatest opportunity for personal fulfillment and career success.
Through the College of Business and Public Administration's Management Department, students can take a wide variety of courses in Entrepreneurship to help build their "toolkit" of entrepreneurial skills. The courses offered lead to a major in Entrepreneurial Management. CSUSB is the only university in the Inland Empire to offer graduate and undergraduate degrees in entrepreneurship.
The entrepreneurship program at CSUSB teaches entrepreneurship as a process, preparing students to take their education and experience into a wide variety of venues including new venture creation, corporate environments, and nonprofit and public sector settings. We view entrepreneurship as a mindset and a process that can be utilized in a number of different and diverse settings throughout the student’s life. Overall, the curriculum itself builds on a strong theoretical foundation, but is imbued with relevant experiential components. Indeed, nearly every faculty member teaching in the program is not only a respected scholar, but is a former entrepreneur! In essence, we believe our curriculum finds an appropriate balance that provides the appropriate principles and theoretical foundations but is also rich with real life examples and lessons from the years of entrepreneurial experience of the faculty (both past and ongoing).
